On the 30th of October, Hugh Dwyer of ''Advance Look Inc'' spent the better part of two hours, examining our prospective home purchase in St. Marys, from the complete exterior, as well as the grounds, to the basement, to the main, second and third floors, all the while, explaining to me as I went along with him, what he saw as a problem and what he saw as something positive and of which helped to support our feelings towards a house we had decided to consider.  His recommendations went a long way to mediated our concerns about the age of the house, and the degree of quality concerning the renovations that had been done in a large part of the house.
Within 24 hours he sent us a PDF file containing his report of over 65 pages of notes, photos, concerns, immediate and not so immediate steps to take, as well as links to references found on-line.  He also indicated that we could call on him for further advice as well as referring us to competent contractors that he is aware of.
Having gone through a similar experience when we bought our first house twenty years ago in Toronto, of which we were given a formula-filed binder with check-offs and no detailed analysis, having Hugh inspect our new home in St. Marys was very satisfying and illustrated a greater degree of professionalism, competence and the ability to connect with people in a way that makes the whole experience less frightening and more informative.
